Hadith 5717
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ مُكْرَمٍ الْبَزَّازُ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ بِالْبَصْرَةِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ خَيْثَمَةَ ، عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَيْمَنُ امْرِئٍ ، وَأَشْأَمُهُ مَا بَيْنَ لَحْيَيْهِ " ، قَالَ وَهْبٌ : يَعْنِي لِسَانَهُ .
Sayyiduna ‘Adi bin Hatim (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “A man’s good fortune and his misfortune are between his two jaws.” The narrator named Wahb says: That is, it is in his tongue.
