Chapter on Disliked Listening, Suspicion, Anger, and Foul Speech – On molten lead being poured into the ears of eavesdroppers on Judgment Day
Hadith 5686
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ شَقِيقٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ صَوَّرَ صُورَةً ، عَذَّبَهُ اللَّهُ حَتَّى يَنْفُخَ فِيهَا ، وَلَيْسَ بِنَافِخٍ ، وَمَنِ اسْتَمَعَ إِلَى حَدِيثِ قَوْمٍ يَفِرُّونَ مِنْهُ ، صُبَّ فِي أُذُنَيْهِ الآنُكُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ، وَمَنْ تَحَلَّمَ كُلِّفَ أَنْ يَعْقِدَ بَيْنَ شَعِيرَتَيْنِ وَلَيْسَ بِفَاعِلٍ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever makes a picture, Allah Almighty will punish him until he breathes a soul into that picture, and he will not be able to do so. Whoever listens to people's conversation while they dislike him listening, molten lead will be poured into his ears on the Day of Resurrection. And whoever narrates a false dream will be made to tie two grains of barley together, and he will not be able to do so."
