Saeed bin Ubaid narrates: We participated in the funeral of Abu Sufyan bin Alaa, and Shuba was also with us. When Abu Sufyan was buried, Shuba said: This person narrated a hadith to me. He pointed towards the grave of Abu Sufyan and said: He says: I asked Hasan, "Who narrated this hadith to you? Did the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) say: 'If dogs were not a distinct type of creation, I would have ordered them to be killed.'" So he replied: Abdullah bin Mughaffal (may Allah be pleased with him), by the One besides whom there is no deity, narrated this hadith to me in this mosque. Hasan pointed towards the congregational mosque while stating this.
(Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) The name of the narrator called Abu Sufyan is Saad, and his title is "Sils." There is no other musnad hadith in the world narrated from Abu Sufyan bin Alaa except this one. He was the brother of Abu Amr bin Alaa, and Amr bin Alaa's name was Zaban. They were four brothers. (The names of the other two brothers) are Abu Muadh and Umar.
