Chapter on Killing Animals – On what is lost from a Muslim’s deeds by keeping a dog unnecessarily
Hadith 5654
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الأَزْدِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، حَدَّثَنِي الأَوْزَاعِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو سَلَمَةَ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَنْ أَمْسَكَ كَلْبًا إِلا كَلْبَ حَرْثٍ أَوْ مَاشِيَةٍ ، نَقَصَ مِنْ عَمَلِهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطٌ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Whoever keeps a dog that is not for the protection of fields or livestock, then a qirat is deducted from his deeds every day."
