Chapter on Killing Animals – On the reduction of reward for keeping dogs except certain types
Hadith 5650
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا غَسَّانُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ ، عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُغَفَّلٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَنِ اقْتَنَى كَلْبًا لَيْسَ بِكَلْبِ صَيْدٍ ، وَلا مَاشِيَةٍ ، وَلا حَرْثٍ ، نَقَصَ مِنْ أَجْرِهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطٌ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mughaffal (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "Whoever keeps a dog that is for hunting or for guarding other animals, then one qirat is deducted from his reward every day."
