Lady Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Five (types of animals) are wicked and may be killed in both the sacred and non-sacred areas: the scorpion, the kite, the crow, the rat, and the rabid dog."
(Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) The concise narration is that narration which a companion transmits from the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) as reported by a just person in those words from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and it should be acted upon at all times. The detailed narration is that which he transmits exactly from the companion regarding his person, which is transmitted with additional words from another source; acting upon this addition is necessary when a trustworthy narrator is unique in transmitting it. This will be according to the method which we have mentioned at the end of the book.
