Section on Animals – On the prohibition of striking four-legged animals on the face
Hadith 5620
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَرُوبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ وَهْبِ بْنِ أَبِي كَرِيمَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحِيمِ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَبِي أُنَيْسَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ مَرَّ عَلَيْهِ بِحِمَارٍ قَدْ كُوِيَ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ أَوْ وُسِمَ ، فَلَعَنَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَنْ فَعَلَ ذَلِكَ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ ، لا تَضْرِبُوهَا عَلَى وُجُوهِهَا " .
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Once the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by a donkey whose face had been branded. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) cursed the person who had done this, then he said: "Subhan Allah! Do not strike them on their faces."
