Section on Animals – On the permissibility of riding two people on one animal if it does not harm the animal
Hadith 5618
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الرُّومِيِّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا النَّضْرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عِكْرِمَةُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا إِيَاسُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الأَكْوَعِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : لَقَدْ قُدْتُ بِنَبِيِّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَالْحَسَنِ وَالْحُسَيْنِ عَلَى بَغْلَتِهِ الشَّهْبَاءِ ، حَتَّى أَدْخَلْتُهُمْ حُجْرَةَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ هَذَا قُدَّامَهُ ، وَهَذَا خَلْفَهُ " .
Iyas bin Salamah narrates from his father (Sayyiduna Salamah bin Akwa’ رضي الله عنه): One day, I was taking the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), Sayyiduna Hasan رضي الله عنه, and Sayyiduna Husayn رضي الله عنه, riding together on a mule, until I brought them into the chamber of the Prophet (ﷺ). (Of Sayyiduna Imam Hasan رضي الله عنه and Sayyiduna Imam Husayn رضي الله عنه), one was sitting in front of the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), and the other was sitting behind him.
