Section on Torture – On Allah’s punishment in the Hereafter for those who tortured people in this world
Hadith 5612
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ الْكَلاعِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا كَثِيرُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، عَنِ الزُّبَيْدِيِّ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، أَنَّ هِشَامَ بْنَ حَكِيمِ بْنِ حِزَامٍ ، وَجَدَ عِيَاضَ بْنَ غَنْمٍ وَهُوَ عَلَى حِمْصَ ، شَمَّسَ نَاسًا مِنَ النَّبَطِ فِي أَخْذِ الْجِزْيَةِ ، فَقَالَ هِشَامُ بْنُ حَكِيمٍ : مَا هَذَا يَا عِيَاضُ ؟ فَإِنِّي سمعت رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُعَذِّبُ الَّذِينَ يُعَذِّبُونَ النَّاسَ فِي الدُّنْيَا " .
Urwah narrates: Hisham bin Hakeem found Iyad bin Ghanm, who was the governor of Hims. He had made some people stand in the sun for the collection of jizyah. So Hisham bin Hakeem said: O Iyad! What is this? I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) say: "Indeed, Allah will punish those who punish people in this world."
