On clarifying that Aisha’s statement referred to the pledge of allegiance, not physical contact
Hadith 5581
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ قُتَيْبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ : " مَا أَخَذَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى النِّسَاءِ قَطُّ إِلا بِمَا أَمَرَهُ اللَّهُ جَلَّ وَعَلا ، وَمَا مَسَّتْ كَفُّهُ كَفَّ امْرَأَةٍ قَطُّ ، وَمَا كَانَ يَقُولُ لَهُنَّ إِذَا أَخَذَ عَلَيْهِنَّ إِلا : قَدْ " بَايَعْتُكُنَّ " كَلامًا .
Sayyida Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) would take (the pledge of allegiance) from women only for that thing which Allah Almighty had commanded him. The blessed hand of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) never touched the hand of any woman. When he would take the pledge from those women, he would say to them: I have taken your pledge by words.
Hadith 5582
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ النَّاقِدُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ الزُّبَيْرِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، يَرْفَعُ الْحَدِيثَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لا يُبَاشِرُ الرَّجُلُ الرَّجُلَ ، وَلا الْمَرْأَةُ الْمَرْأَةَ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates as a marfu’ hadith that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “No man should have intercourse with another man, and no woman should have intercourse with another woman.”
