Sayyiduna Bara’ (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) instructed a man that when he goes to bed—here the narrator named Ibn Kathir has transmitted these words—the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) advised a man to recite: “O Allah! I entrust myself to You, I turn my face towards You, I rely on You with my back, I hand over my affairs to You, with hope in You and fear of You. There is no refuge and no place of safety from You except with You. I believe in Your Book which You have revealed and in Your Prophet whom You have sent.” (The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Whoever recites these words and dies that night, he will die upon the natural disposition (i.e., the religion of Islam).”
