Report Refuting Those Who Claim Wearing the Ring on the Left Is Sunnah
Hadith 5499
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سَهْلُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ الْعَسْكَرِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عُقْبَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ : أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " اتَّخَذَ خَاتَمًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ ، وَلَبِسَهُ فِي يَمِينِهِ ، وَجَعَلَ فَصَّهُ مِمَّا يَلِي بَطْنَ كَفِّهِ ، ثُمَّ رَمَى بِهِ ، وَاتَّخَذَ خَاتَمًا مِنْ وَرِقٍ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) had a ring made of gold. He wore it on his right hand. He would keep the stone of the ring facing towards the palm. Then he removed it and had a ring made of silver.
