Report That May Seem to Contradict the Report of Ibrahim bin Sa'd
Hadith 5492
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الأَزْدِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ الْمَخْزُومِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي زِيَادُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ، أَنَّ ابْنَ شِهَابٍ أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنَّ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنَّهُ رَأَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي يَدِهِ يَوْمًا خَاتَمًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ ، فَاضْطَرَبَ النَّاسُ الْخَوَاتِيمَ ، فَرَمَى بِهِ ، وَقَالَ : " لا أَلْبَسُهُ أَبَدًا " .
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: One day he saw a gold ring on the blessed hand of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), so the people also had rings made. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) took it off. He said: I will never wear it again.
