Hadith 5439
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) saw a Syrian cloak being sold at the door of the mosque, so he said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)! If you buy it and wear it on Fridays and on the days when delegations come to meet you, (that would be appropriate) when those delegations come to you. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Only that person will wear it who will have no share in the Hereafter. Then similar cloaks came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), so he gave one of those cloaks to Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him). Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)! You have given this to me to wear, even though you had said such and such about the cloak of ‘Atarid (a person). The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: I did not give it to you so that you would wear it. So Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) gave that cloak to his polytheist brother in Makkah to wear.
Hadith 5440
Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade wearing Qassi and Mu'asfar (types of clothes), wearing a gold ring, and reciting (Qur'an) during bowing (ruku‘).
