Hisham bin Abu Ruqayyah narrates: I heard Sayyiduna Muslamah bin Makhlad (may Allah be pleased with him) delivering a sermon to the people from the pulpit, saying: O people! Is there not in hemp and linen that which can suffice you from silk? This person narrated a hadith from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): O Uqbah! Stand up. So Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up. (The narrator says:) I was listening, he said: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "Whoever deliberately attributes a lie to me, let him prepare his abode in the Hellfire." And I bear witness that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "Whoever wears silk, it has been made unlawful for him to wear it in the Hereafter."
