Section on Beverages - Clarification That the Previously Mentioned Drink Was Not Intoxicating
Hadith 5396
أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ التَّاجِرُ بِمَرْوَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ السِّنْجِيُّ سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ مَعْبَدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ عَقِيلٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو عَمْرِو بْنُ الْعَلاءِ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ : أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " كَانَ يُنْبَذُ لَهُ فِي تَوْرٍ مِنْ حِجَارَةٍ ، فَيَشْرَبُهُ أَوَّلَ يَوْمٍ ، وَالثَّانِي ، وَالثَّالِثَ ، إِلَى نِصْفِ النَّهَارِ " .
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Nabidh used to be prepared for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in a stone bowl. He would drink it on the first day, the second day, and until midday on the third day (after that, he would discard it because it would begin to ferment).
