Section on Beverages - Permissibility of Drinking Fermented Drink Unless It Causes Intoxication
Hadith 5385
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ بِسْطَامٍ بِالأَبُلَّةِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ الثَّقَفِيُّ ، عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ ، عَنْ أُمِّهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : " كُنَّا نَنْبِذُ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي سِقَاءٍ يُوكَى أَعْلاهُ ، نَنْبِذُهُ غُدْوَةً ، فَيَشْرَبُهُ عَشِيًّا ، وَنَنْبِذُهُ عَشِيًّا ، فَيَشْرَبُهُ غُدْوَةً " .
Sayyida Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: We used to prepare nabidh for the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in a waterskin whose mouth would be tied shut. If we prepared the nabidh in the morning, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) would drink it in the evening, and if we prepared it in the evening, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) would drink it in the morning.
