Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Sayyiduna Abu Ubaidah bin Jarrah (may Allah be pleased with him), Sayyiduna Suhail bin Baida (may Allah be pleased with him), and Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) were present at the house of Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him). I was serving them wine. They were drinking it when a Muslim passed by and announced: "Do you know that wine has been declared forbidden?" Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: By Allah, they did not wait for anything (and immediately) instructed me to pour out the wine that was in my vessel, so I did so. After that, until they met Allah (i.e., passed away), they never drank wine again. In those days, wine was made from fresh and dried dates. That was our wine in those days.
Hadith 5362
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I was serving Fadheekh (a type of wine) to my uncles because I was the youngest among them in age. During this, a person came and said: Wine has been declared unlawful. So they said: O Anas! Throw it away. So I threw it away. The narrator named Sulaiman says: I inquired, what was that wine made from? Sayyiduna Anas replied: From dried and fresh dates.
The narrator states: Abu Bakr bin Anas narrated that at that time, wine was made from this very thing.
