Chapter on Etiquette of Drinking - Reason the Prophet Breathed into the Vessel Three Times
Hadith 5330
أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ زُهَيْرٍ الْحَافِظُ بِتُسْتَرَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ أَبِي زَيْدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ أَبِي عَزَّةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ أَبِي عِصَامٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا شَرِبَ يَتَنَفَّسُ ثَلاثَ مَرَّاتٍ ، وَقَالَ : " هُوَ أَهْنَأُ وَأَبْرَأُ وَأَمْرَأُ " .
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Whenever the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) drank something, he would breathe three times (in between). He used to say: This is easier, more convenient, and more satisfying (way).
