Chapter of 'Aqiqah - Description of 'Aqiqah for Boys and Girls
Hadith 5312
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ سِبَاعِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ أُمِّ كُرْزٍ ، أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فِي الْعَقِيقَةِ ، قَالَ : " عَنِ الْغُلامِ شَاتَانِ ، وَعَنِ الْجَارِيَةِ شَاةٌ ، لا يَضُرُّكُمْ ذُكْرَانًا كُنَّ أَوْ إِنَاثًا " .
Sayyida Umm Kuraz (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: She heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) say regarding 'Aqiqah: For a boy, two goats should be sacrificed, and for a girl, one goat should be sacrificed. There is no harm whether it is a male or female goat.
