Aqeeqah – The day on which the sacrifice is made for a newborn
Hadith 5311
أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، قَالَ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ : وَهُوَ الْيَافِعِيُّ شيخ ثقة مصري ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ عَمْرَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : " عَقَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ حَسَنٍ وَحُسَيْنٍ يَوْمَ السَّابِعِ ، وَسَمَّاهُمَا ، وَأَمَرَ أَنْ يُمَاطَ عَنْ رَأْسِهِ الأَذَى " .
Lady Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: On the seventh day after the birth of Sayyiduna Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him), the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) performed their 'aqiqah and named them. He ordered that the harmful thing (i.e., the hair) be removed from their heads.
