Hospitality – What the guest should pray for those whose food he ate
Hadith 5297
أَخْبَرَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ خُمَيْرٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بُسْرٍ السُّلَمِيِّ ، قَالَ : جَاءَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى أَبِي ، فَنَزَلَ عَلَيْهِ ، فَأَتَاهُ بِطَعَامٍ ، وَحَيْسٍ ، وَسَوِيقٍ ، وَتَمْرٍ ، ثُمَّ أَتَاهُ بِشَرَابٍ ، فَنَاوَلَ مَنْ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ ، قَالَ : " وَكَانَ يَأْكُلُ التَّمْرَ ، وَيَضَعُ النَّوَى عَلَى ظَهْرِ أُصْبُعَيْهِ السَّبَّابَةِ وَالْوسْطَى ، ثُمَّ يَرْمِي بِهِ ، ثُمَّ دَعَا لَهُمْ ، فَقَالَ : " اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَهُمْ فِيمَا رَزَقْتَهُمْ ، وَاغْفِرْ لَهُمْ ، وَارْحَمْهُمْ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Busr Salmi (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) came with my father. He stayed there. Food, hais, sattu, and dates were presented to him. Then a drink was presented to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so he passed it to the person on his right. The narrator states, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would eat dates and place the pit between his index and middle finger, then he would throw it away. Then he prayed for mercy for those people and supplicated: "O Allah! Bless for them what You have provided for them, forgive them, and have mercy on them."
