Hadith 5250
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ يُوسُفَ ، حَدَّثَنَا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْجَهْضَمِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ الْمُفَضَّلِ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَجْلانَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا وَقَعَ الذُّبَابُ فِي إِنَاءِ أَحَدِكُمْ ، فَلْيَغْمِسْهُ ، فَإِنَّ فِي أَحَدِ جَنَاحَيْهِ دَاءً ، وَفِي الآخَرِ شِفَاءً ، وَإِنَّهُ يَتَّقِي بِجَنَاحِهِ الَّذِي فِيهِ الدَّاءُ ، فَلْيَغْمِسْهُ كُلَّهُ ، ثُمَّ لِيَنْزِعْهُ " ، قَالَ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ : الْعَرَبُ تُسَوِّغُ هَذِهِ اللَّفْظَةَ فِي الاتِّقَاءِ أَنَّهُ يُسْتَعْمَلُ فِي الْغَمْسِ وَالرَّفْعِ مَعًا ، فَإِنَّ الاتِّقَاءَ يَقَعُ عَلَى الْمَعْنَيَيْنِ جَمِيعًا .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When a fly falls into the vessel of any one of you, he should immerse it completely, for one of its wings has disease and the other has cure. It tries to protect itself with the wing that has the disease, so a person should immerse it completely and then take it out."
(Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) The Arabs use this word for both immersing and lifting, because the word 'Ittiqaa' is used for both meanings.
