Table Manners – Report indicating the cheese the Prophet ate was made by Muslims
Hadith 5242
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمَدِينِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُقْبَةَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي سَالِمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ لَقِيَ زَيْدَ بْنَ عَمْرِو بْنِ نُفَيْلٍ بِأَسْفَلَ بَلْدَحَ ، فَقَدَّمَ إِلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سُفْرَةً فِيهَا طَعَامٌ ، فَأَبَى أَنْ يَأْكُلَ ، وَقَالَ : " إِنَّا لا نَأْكُلُ مِمَّا تَذْبَحُونَ عَلَى أَنْصَابِكُمْ ، وَلا نَأْكُلُ إِلا مِمَّا ذُكِرَ اسْمُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates about the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): In the lower part of Baldah, he met Sayyiduna Zayd bin Amr bin Nufayl. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) placed a dining mat before him on which there was some food. He refused to eat the food. He said: I do not eat that meat which you people (i.e., the people of Makkah) slaughter in the name of idols. We only eat that upon which Allah's name has been mentioned.
