Table Manners – Warning against eating with the left hand and walking with one shoe
Hadith 5225
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ الأَنْصَارِيُّ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ الْمَكِّيِّ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " نَهَى أَنْ يَأْكُلَ الرَّجُلُ بِشِمَالِهِ ، أَوْ يَمْشِيَ فِي نَعْلٍ وَاحِدَةٍ ، وَأَنْ يَشْتَمِلَ الصَّمَّاءَ ، أَوْ يَحْتَبِيَ فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ كَاشِفًا عَنْ فَرْجِهِ " .
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with both of them) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade that a person should eat with his left hand, or walk wearing only one shoe, or wear a garment as an ishtimal-e-samma (wrapping oneself completely in a garment without leaving an opening for the arms), or wrap a single cloth around himself as an ihtiba’ in such a way that his private parts become exposed.
