Table Manners – Command to gather for food, hoping for blessing in gathering
Hadith 5224
أَخْبَرَنَا الْهَيْثَمُ بْنُ خَلَفٍ الدُّورِيُّ ، بِبَغْدَادَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ بْنُ رُشَيْدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ، عَنْ وَحْشِيِّ بْنِ حَرْبِ بْنِ وَحْشِيِّ بْنِ حَرْبٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ وَحْشِيٍّ ، قَالَ : قَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّا نَأْكُلُ وَلا نَشْبَعُ ، قَالَ : " تَجْتَمِعُونَ عَلَى طَعَامِكُمْ أَوْ تَتَفَرَّقُونَ ؟ قَالُوا : نَتَفَرَّقُ ، قَالَ : اجْتَمِعُوا عَلَى طَعَامِكُمْ ، وَاذْكُرُوا اسْمَ اللَّهِ ، يُبَارَكْ لَكُمْ " .
Sayyiduna Wahshi (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The people said, "O Messenger of Allah! We eat but do not feel satiated." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, "Do you eat together or separately?" They replied, "We eat separately." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Eat together and mention the name of Allah over it. There will be blessing in it for you."
