Table Manners – What a servant should say after washing his hand from food residue
Hadith 5219
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الأَعْلَى بْنُ حَمَّادٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ زُهَيْرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ سُهَيْلِ بْنِ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : دَعَا رَجُلٌ مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : فَانْطَلَقْنَا مَعَهُ ، فَلَمَّا طَعِمَ ، وَغَسَلَ يَدَهُ ، قَالَ : " الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَطْعَمَ وَلا يُطْعَمُ ، مَنَّ عَلَيْنَا ، فَهَدَانَا ، وَأَطْعَمَنَا وَسَقَانَا ، وَكُلُّ بَلاءٍ حَسَنٍ أَبْلانَا ، الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَطْعَمَ مِنَ الطَّعَامِ ، وَسَقَى مِنَ الشَّرَابِ ، وَكَسَا مِنَ الْعُرْيِ ، وَهَدَى مِنَ الضَّلالَةِ ، وَبَصَّرَ مِنَ الْعَمَى ، وَفَضَّلَ عَلَى كَثِيرٍ مِمَّنْ خَلَقَ تَفْضِيلاً ، الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: An Ansari invited the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I also went along with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had eaten the food and washed his hands, he recited this: "All praise is due to Allah alone, Who feeds and is not fed, Who has bestowed favor upon us and guided us, Who has given us food to eat, given us drink, and placed us in a good condition. All praise is due to Allah alone, Who has fed from the food, given drink from the drink, clothed the unclothed body, and guided from misguidance, Who granted sight to the blind, and has given us superiority over many of His creation. All praise is due to Allah alone, the Lord of all the worlds."
