Hadith 5201
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِكْرِمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَبِيبَةَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ ، قال : " كُنَّا نُكْرِي الأَرْضَ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمَا عَلَى السَّوَاقِي مِنَ الزَّرْعِ وَبِمَا سُقِيَ بِالْمَاءِ مِنْهَا ، فَنَهَانَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ ذَلِكَ ، وَرَخَّصَ لَنَا أَنْ نُكْرِيَهَا بِالذَّهَبِ وَالْوَرِقِ " .
Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Previously, during the blessed time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), we used to lease out land on rent, stipulating that the produce from the part of the field near rainwater or canal water would go to the owner. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade us from this. He permitted us to lease out land in exchange for gold or silver.
