Hadith 5197
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ خَلِيلٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا رَبِيعَةُ بْنُ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ حَنْظَلَةَ بْنِ قَيْسٍ ، عَنْ رَافِعِ بْنِ خَدِيجٍ ، قَالَ : " كَانَتِ الأَرْضُ تُكْرَى بِالْمَاذِيَانَاتِ وَشَيْءٍ مِنَ التِّبْنِ يُسْتَثْنَى بِهِ ، فَنَهَاهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ كِرَاءِ الأَرْضِ " ، قَالَ رَافِعٌ : فَأَمَّا الذَّهَبُ وَالْوَرِقُ ، فَلا بَأْسَ بِهِ .
Sayyiduna Rafi' bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Previously, land used to be leased out in exchange for produce, and sometimes for a specified portion of grain that was set aside. Then the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade people from leasing out land in this manner. Sayyiduna Rafi' (may Allah be pleased with him) says: As for leasing land in exchange for gold or silver, there is no harm in that.
