ذكر البيان بأن المرء وإن كان خيرا فاضلا إذا أهدي إليه شيء وإن كان قليلا عليه قبوله والإفضال منه على غيره دون الازدراء بالشيء اليسير والتأمل للشيء الكثير-
Clarification that even a virtuous person should accept a small gift and show generosity, not disdain for little or greed for much
Hadith 5110
أَخْبَرَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْعَطَّارُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سِمَاكُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي دَارِ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ ، فَأُتِيَ بِطَعَامٍ فِيهِ ثُومٌ ، فَلَمْ يَأْكُلْ مِنْهُ وَأَرْسَلَ بِهِ إِلَى أَبِي أَيُّوبَ ، فَلَمْ يَأْكُلْ مِنْهُ أَبُو أَيُّوبَ ، إِذْ لَمْ يَرَ فِيهِ أَثَرَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، ثُمَّ أَتَاهُ ، فَسَأَلَهُ عَنْهُ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَحَرَامٌ هُوَ ؟ قَالَ : " لا ، وَلَكِنْ كَرِهْتُهُ مِنْ أَجْلِ الرِّيحِ " ، فَقَالَ : إِنِّي أَكْرَهُ مَا كَرِهْتَ .
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was present in the house of Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him). Food was brought to him which contained garlic, so the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) did not eat it. He sent it to Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him). Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) also did not eat from it because he did not see any sign of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) having eaten from it. Then he went to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and asked him about it. He said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), is this forbidden? The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No, but I disliked it because of its smell. Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) said: That which you dislike, I also dislike.
