Abdullah bin Ka'b bin Malik narrates from his father: He demanded repayment of a debt from Ibn Abu Hadrad which was due upon him. This incident took place during the blessed time of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and it happened in the mosque. Their voices became loud. Until the Prophet (peace be upon him), while he was in his house, heard their voices. The Prophet (peace be upon him) came to them, lifted the curtain of his chamber, and called out to Ka'b bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) in a loud voice, "O Ka'b bin Malik!" He replied, "O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), I am present." The Prophet (peace be upon him) gestured with his blessed hand that he should forgive half of the debt. Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), I have done so." The Prophet (peace be upon him) then said (to the other party), "Get up and pay the remaining amount."
