Chapter: Debts - Hoping for Allah's pardon for those who pardon the indebted
Hadith 5046
أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " كَانَ رَجُلٌ يُدَايِنُ النَّاسَ ، فَإِذَا أَعْسَرَ الْمُعْسِرُ ، قَالَ لِفَتَاهُ : تَجَاوَزْ عَنْهُ ، لَعَلَّ اللَّهَ يَتَجَاوَزُ عَنَّا ، فَلَقِيَ اللَّهَ فَتَجَاوَزَ عَنْهُ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying: "There was a man who used to lend money to people. When he found someone in difficulty, he would say to his employees: 'Forgive him, so that Allah may forgive us.' When he appeared before Allah, Allah forgave him."
