Ibn Hibban

Ibrahim Nakha'i narrates: Aswad bin Yazid used to take loans from a merchant, and when his salary would come, he would pay it back. Aswad said: If you wish, I will pay you back a little late this time because I have some other expenses to cover from this salary. The merchant said to him: I will not do that. So Aswad paid him five hundred dirhams in cash until the merchant took them into his possession. Then the merchant said to him: These are with you, you may take them. Aswad asked him: Earlier, when I made this request to you, you did not accept it. The merchant said to him: I heard you narrate to us from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) this hadith: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever gives someone a loan twice for the sake of Allah, he will receive the reward of giving charity once out of the two."
(Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) The narrator named Fudayl Abu Mu'adh is Fudayl bin Maysarah; he belonged to the people of Basra. The narrator named Abu Hariz is Abdullah bin Husayn; he was the judge of Sijistan and narrated hadiths in Basra.
