Chapter: Bankruptcy - Another report clarifying that the narration is about the seller, not the depositor
Hadith 5038
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الشَّرْقِيِّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى الذُّهْلِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ يَحْيَى ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِذَا أَفْلَسَ الرَّجُلُ فَوَجَدَ الْبَائِعُ سِلْعَتَهُ بِعَيْنِهَا ، فَهُوَ أَحَقُّ بِهَا دُونَ الْغُرَمَاءِ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "When a person becomes bankrupt and the seller finds his goods with him in their original form, then he has more right to that goods than the other creditors."
