Chapter: Forbidden sales - Warning against withholding surplus water one does not need
Hadith 4955
أَخْبَرَنَا عِمْرَانُ بْنُ مُوسَى السَّخْتِيَانِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ أُمِّهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : " نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يُمْنَعَ نَقْعُ الْبِئْرِ ، يَعْنِي فَضْلَ الْمَاءِ " ، قَالَ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ : أُمُّهُ عَمْرَةُ بِنْتُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ سَعْدِ بْنِ زُرَارَةَ ، وَكَانَتْ مِنْ أَعْلَمِ النِّسَاءِ بِحَدِيثِ عَائِشَةَ .
Lady Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) forbade the use of water from a well called "Naq‘" (forbidden to be used). (The narrator says:) By this is meant surplus water. (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) The mother of the narrator Muhammad bin Abdur Rahman is Amrah bint Abdur Rahman bin Sa‘d bin Zurara. This lady is the most knowledgeable woman regarding the narrations transmitted from Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her).
