Chapter: Forbidden sales - Reason for prohibition of selling or gifting the right of inheritance (wala')
Hadith 4950
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى ، قَالَ : قُرِئَ عَلَى بِشْرِ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ ، عَنْ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " الْوَلاءُ لُحْمَةٌ كَلُحْمَةِ النَّسَبِ ، لا يُبَاعُ ، وَلا يُوهَبُ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Wala' is a firm bond like a blood relationship, which cannot be sold nor given as a gift."
