Ibn Hibban

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: At the time when alcohol had not yet been declared unlawful, a man set out (from his home). He intended to present a waterskin of alcohol as a gift to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). He came riding on his camel. He found the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) seated. The Prophet (peace be upon him) asked, "What do you have with you?" He replied, "A waterskin of alcohol, which I wish to present to you as a gift." The Prophet (peace be upon him) asked, "Do you know that Allah Almighty has declared it unlawful?" He replied, "No." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Indeed, Allah Almighty has declared it unlawful." So the man turned to the person leading the camel and spoke to him in a low voice. That person stood up. The Prophet (peace be upon him) asked, "What did you say to him?" He replied, "I instructed him to sell it." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Indeed, whatever has been declared unlawful to drink has also been declared unlawful to sell." The narrator says: So the man ordered, and the mouth of the waterskin was opened, and the alcohol flowed out and mixed with the earth. I was watching it in the open field until nothing remained in that waterskin.
