Chapter: Price fixing and hoarding - Recommendation for the ruler to avoid price fixing
Hadith 4935
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا هُدْبَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ ، وَقَتَادَةَ ، وَحُمَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : غَلا السِّعْرُ عَلَى عَهْد ِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، غَلا السِّعْرُ ، فَسَعِّرْ لَنَا سِعْرًا ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ الْخَالِقُ الْقَابِضُ الْبَاسِطُ الرَّازِقُ ، وَإِنِّي لأَرْجُو أَنْ لا أَلْقَى اللَّهَ بِمَظْلِمَةٍ ظَلَمْتُهَا أَحَدًا مِنْكُمْ فِي أَهْلٍ وَلا مَالٍ " .
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: In the blessed time of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), the prices of things increased. The people submitted: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)! The prices of things have increased. Now fix the prices for us. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Allah Almighty is the Creator, He is the One who constricts, the One who grants abundance, the Provider of sustenance. I hope that when I appear before Allah Almighty, I will not have wronged any one of you regarding his family or wealth.
