Hadith 4925
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ بْنُ فَرُّوخٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْمِنْهَالِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : قَدِمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمَدِينَةَ وَالنَّاسُ يُسْلِفُونَ ، فَقَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ أَسْلَفَ ، فَلا يُسْلِفْ إِلا فِي كَيْلٍ مَعْلُومٍ ، وَوَزْنٍ مَعْلُومٍ " ، أَبُو الْمِنْهَالِ هَذَا اسْمُهُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مُطْعِمٍ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: When the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) came to Madinah, people used to practice forward sales (salam). The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said to them: Whoever does a forward sale should do so with specified measure and specified weight. (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) The narrator named Abu Minhal is Abdul Rahman bin Mut’im.
