Description of some types of oaths that cause Allah to dislike the seller
Hadith 4908
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ قُتَيْبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا صَفْوَانُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " ثَلاثَةٌ لا يُكَلِّمُهُمُ اللَّهُ وَلا يَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِمْ ، رَجُلٌ حَلَفَ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ عَلَى مَالِ امْرِئٍ مُسْلِمٍ فَاقْتَطَعَهُ ، وَرَجُلٌ حَلَفَ لَقَدْ أَعْطَى بِسِلْعَتِهِ أَكْثَرَ مِمَّا أَعْطَى ، وَرَجُلٌ مَنَعَ فَضْلَ الْمَاءِ ، يَقُولُ اللَّهُ : الْيَوْمَ أَمْنَعُكَ فَضْلِي ، كَمَا مَنَعْتَ فَضْلَ مَا لَمْ تَعْمَلْهُ يَدَاكَ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There are three people with whom Allah will not speak, nor will He look at them with mercy. One is the person who, after Asr, swears an oath over a Muslim's wealth and seizes it. The second is the person who swears that he paid more for an item than he actually did. The third is the person who forbids others from taking surplus water. Allah will say: Today I withhold My bounty from you, just as you withheld that surplus which was not the earning of your own hands."
