Sayyiduna Zayd bin Khalid al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). I was with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). He asked the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) about a lost and found item. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Remember the bag and the thing tied to its mouth as its identification. Then announce it for a year. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: If no claimant comes for it, then you may spend it. He asked about a lost sheep (what is the ruling about it?). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: It will either come to you, or to one of your brothers, or to the wolves. He asked: (What is the ruling about) a lost camel? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Its belly is with it, its legs are with it. It will reach water by itself and eat the leaves of the trees, until its owner reaches it. The narrator named Abu Rabi’ is Sulaiman bin Dawood bin Hammad bin Sa’d, who is the nephew of Rushdin bin Sa’d bin Misri, and Abu Rabi’ Zahraani’s name is Sulaiman bin Dawood Basri. This has been stated by the Shaykh.
