Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Whoever unjustly kills a dhimmi, Allah the Exalted will make Paradise forbidden for him, even its fragrance he will not perceive.” (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) The meaning of all these narrations is: that person will not enter a specific type of Paradise. However, he may enter another Paradise, and what is meant is the upper part of Paradise, which he will not enter. That is, the person who commits such an act, or any such thing as a result of which Allah the Exalted makes Paradise forbidden for him, or because of which he will not enter Paradise, then what is meant is that Paradise which is the highest rank of Paradise, into which the perpetrator of such acts will not enter. The reason for this is: Paradise has different levels. A person attains them due to good deeds, and because of committing sins, he descends from one of those ranks.
