Hadith 4856
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ السَّلامِ بِبَيْرُوتَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ هَاشِمٍ الْبَعْلَبَكِّيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ، عَنْ أَبِي وَهْبٍ ، عَنْ مَكْحُولٍ ، عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ مَعْدَانَ ، عَنْ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ النُّدَّرِ السُّلَمِيُّ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِذَا انْتَاطَ غَزْوُكُمْ ، وَكَثُرَتِ الْعَزَائِمُ ، وَاسْتُحِلَّتِ الْغَنَائِمُ ، فَخَيْرُ جِهَادِكُمُ الرِّبَاطُ " .
Sayyiduna Utbah bin Nadhr Salami (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When your battles come to an end, your ambitions increase, and war booty is made lawful for you, then the best form of jihad for you is guarding (the borders)."
