Chapter on Spoils of War and Their Distribution – On the permissibility for the leader to give shares to slaves from the fifth if they participated in battle.
Hadith 4831
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ غِيَاثٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ عُمَيْرٍ مَوْلَى أَبِي اللَّحْمِ ، قَالَ : شَهِدْتُ حُنَيْنًا وَأَنَا عَبْدٌ مَمْلُوكٌ ، فَقُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، سَهْمِي ، فَأَعْطَانِي سَيْفًا ، وَقَالَ : " تَقَلَّدْهُ " ، وَأَعْطَانِي مِنْ خُرْثِيِّ الْمَتَاعِ .
Sayyiduna Umair (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I participated in the Battle of Hunayn. I was a slave. I submitted: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! (My share) from the spoils of war? So the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave me a sword and said: Hang it around your neck. In addition to this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also gave me some ordinary equipment.
