Chapter on Spoils of War and Their Distribution – On the recommendation for the leader to give from the fifth to those whose hearts are to be reconciled.
Hadith 4827
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ بِسْطَامٍ بِالأُبُلَّةِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ مَسْرُوقٍ الثَّوْرِيُّ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَبَايَةَ بْنِ رِفَاعَةَ ، عَنْ رَافِعِ بْنِ خَدِيجٍ ، قَالَ : " لَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ حُنَيْنٍ أَعْطَى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَبَا سُفْيَانَ بْنَ الْحَارِثِ مِائَةً مِنَ الإِبِلِ ، وَأَعْطَى أَبَا سُفْيَانَ بْنَ حَرْبٍ مِائَةً مِنَ الإِبِلِ ، وَأَعْطَى الأَقْرَعَ بْنَ حَابِسٍ التَّمِيمِيَّ مِائَةً مِنَ الإِبِلِ ، وَأَعْطَى عُيَيْنَةَ بْنَ حِصْنٍ الْفَزَارِيَّ مِائَةً مِنَ الإِبِلِ ، وَأَعْطَى الْعَبَّاسَ بْنَ مِرْدَاسٍ دُونَ ذَلِكَ ، فَأَنْشَأَ يَقُولُ : جَعَلْتَ نَهْبِي وَنَهْبَ الْعَبِيدِ بَيْنَ عُيَيْنَةَ وَالأَقْرَعِ " .
Sayyiduna Rafi’ bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: On the occasion of the Battle of Hunayn, the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) gave Abu Sufyan bin Harb one hundred camels. He gave Aqra’ bin Habis al-Tamimi one hundred camels. He gave ‘Uyainah bin Hisn al-Fazari one hundred camels. He gave ‘Abbas bin Mirdas fewer camels than that, so he recited this verse: “You have placed my share and the share of the slave between ‘Uyainah and Aqra’.”
