Chapter on Spoils of War and Their Distribution – On the detailed ruling in the report of Sulaim ibn Akhdar.
Hadith 4811
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ الثَّوْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَنَّهُ أَسْهَمَ لِلْفَارِسِ ثَلاثَةَ أَسْهُمٍ ، سَهْمَيْنِ لِفَرَسِهِ ، وَسَهْمًا لِلرَّجُلِ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates this statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): “(From the spoils of war) the horseman will have three shares—two shares for his horse and one share for the man.”
