Chapter on Setting Out and the Manner of Jihad – On the Prophet dismounting his mule at Hunayn when the Muslims retreated from him.
Hadith 4775
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ مُكْرَمٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ ، " أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمَّا لَقِيَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ يَوْمَ حُنَيْنٍ نَزَلَ عَنْ بَغْلَتِهِ فَتَرَجَّلَ " .
Sayyiduna Bara bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: On the occasion of the Battle of Hunayn, when the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) confronted the polytheists, he (peace be upon him) dismounted from his mule and continued to participate in the battle on foot.
