Chapter on Setting Out and the Manner of Jihad – On the recommendation to seek victory for Muslims through the Companions and Followers.
Hadith 4768
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ الرَّمَادِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، يَقُولُ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يَأْتِي عَلَى النَّاسِ زَمَانٌ يَغْزُو فِيهِ فِئَامٌ مِنَ النَّاسِ ، فَيُقَالُ : مَنْ صَحِبَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ فَيُقَالُ : نَعَمْ ، فَيُفْتَحُ عَلَيْهِمْ ، ثُمَّ يَأْتِي عَلَى النَّاسِ زَمَانٌ يَغْزُو فِيهِ فِئَامٌ مِنَ النَّاسِ ، فَيُقَالُ : هَلْ فِيكُمْ مَنْ صَحِبَ أَصْحَابَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ فَيُقَالُ : نَعَمْ ، فَيُفْتَحُ لَهُمْ ، ثُمَّ يَأْتِي عَلَى النَّاسِ زَمَانٌ يَغْزُو فِيهِ فِئَامٌ مِنَ النَّاسِ ، فَيُقَالُ : مَنْ صَحِبَ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ فَيُقَالُ : نَعَمْ ، فَيُفْتَحُ لَهُمْ " .
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) stated that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A time will come upon the people when some people will participate in battle, and it will be asked: 'Is there anyone among you who is a companion of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)?' The answer will be: 'Yes!' So those people will be granted victory. Then a time will come upon the people when they will go out for battle, and it will be asked: 'Is there anyone among you who has been with the companions of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)?' The answer will be: 'Yes,' so those people will be granted victory. Then a time will come upon the people when many people will go out for battle, and it will be asked: 'Is there anyone among you who has been with the students of the companions of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)?' The answer will be: 'Yes,' so they too will be granted victory."
