Chapter on Setting Out and the Manner of Jihad – On what a person should seek from his Lord when fighting the enemies of God as the ranks meet.
Hadith 4765
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بن أَبِي إِسْرَائِيلَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ قَيْسٍ حَدَّثَهُ ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ إِذَا أَصَابَ قَوْمًا ، قَالَ : " اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا نَجْعَلُكَ فِي نُحُورِهِمْ ، وَنَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شُرُورِهِمْ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Qais (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Whenever the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) attacked a people, he would supplicate: "O Allah, we make You our supporter against them and we seek Your protection from their evil."
