Chapter on Setting Out and the Manner of Jihad – Clarifying that when entering enemy territory, one should not attack until morning.
Hadith 4746
أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ الطَّوِيلِ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَرَجَ إِلَى خَيْبَرَ لَيْلا ، وَكَانَ إِذَا جَاءَ قَوْمًا بِلَيْلٍ لَمْ يُغِرْ حَتَّى يُصْبِحَ ، قَالَ : فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحَ خَرَجَتْ يَهُودُ بِمَسَاحِيهَا وَمَكَاتِلِهَا ، فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهُ ، قَالُوا : مُحَمَّدٌ وَالْخَمِيسُ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ خَرِبَتْ خَيْبَرُ ، إِنَّا إِذَا نَزَلْنَا بِسَاحَةِ قَوْمٍ فَسَاءَ صَبَاحُ الْمُنْذَرِينَ " .
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) reached Khaybar at night. Whenever he (peace be upon him) would reach a place at night, he would not attack until morning. Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When morning came, the Jews came out with their spades and baskets. When they saw (the Muslim army), they said: Sayyiduna Muhammad and his army have come. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah is the Greatest! Khaybar is destroyed. When we descend into the field of a people, then evil is the morning for those who have been warned.
